Marco Baldo
Doctoral Researcher – Ecosystem modelling, forest biodiversity
Forest dynamics modeling is essential for understanding and anticipating long-term forest ecosystem responses to climate change, as well as for understanding how forest management interacts to influence forest resilience, ecosystem functions, and biodiversity conservation.

Specialization

Forest ecosystem ecologist specializing in modeling forest dynamics in Central European forest ecosystems. His research integrates process-based forest dynamics models with basic ecological theory to quantify long-term forest management and climate change effects on ecosystem functioning and resilience. Among the others, he investigates the rules of forest management on the trade-offs between forest resilience and multifunctionality, assesses how abiotic and biotic interactions drive forest transformation, and examines the legacy of forest management on the recovery of multi-taxonomic biodiversity.
