Tomáš Hlásny

Tomáš Hlásny
Head of the Centre – forest disturbance, ecosystem modelling, knowledge transfer, outreach
Future risks will be higher and more complex, and disturbance dynamics will differ from what we know today. Diversity remains our main strategy for facing the unknown, as it spreads risk and strengthens the capacity of forests to endure.

Specialization

Forest disturbance ecology and management, ecosystem modelling, climate change impacts and adaptation. His original background is in geoinformatics and remote sensing.

At Forest Risk Research Centre

Responsible for integrating the Forest Risk Research Centre within university environment, specializing in forest risk management, climate change impacts on forests and adaptation strategies and ecosystem modelling.

Beyond Science

I love being outdoors – cycling, hiking, swimming, or paddling – or reading. Lately my favourite authors have been Richard Dawkins, Yuval Noah Harari, and Salman Rushdie.
